STATEMENT

“I approach glass as a living material. It moves, transforms, and resists control. My work explores those forces and turns them into structure, color and light.”

BIOGRAPHY

Randy Strong is an American glass artist and a central figure in the revival of American glassblowing in the 1970s. Along with Dale Chihuly, he is credited with helping establish the American Studio Glass Movement. Strong studied under Chihuly at Pilchuck Glass School, where he developed the technical mastery and experimental approach that defined his career. Known for his innovative use of dichroic glass and complex surface treatments, Strong pushed glass from craft into fine art. His work is in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Corning Museum of Glass, and other leading institutions.
